A good fifth-wheel gives people space to live, not just sleep. The Jayco Eagle 355MBQS does that with a four-slide, mid-bunk layout that separates the busiest parts of the RV instead of stacking every function into one room.

The middle room can serve as a bedroom, den, office, or guest space. The loft adds another sleeping area without taking over the rear living room. Owners get a private bedroom up front, while the back of the coach remains open for theater seating, a tri-fold sofa, and an entertainment center with a fireplace.

The Eagle name evokes freedom, wide-open spaces, and open roads, which feels especially fitting as America looks toward its 250th birthday. The stronger reason to consider this fifth-wheel is how much usable space Jayco gets from the floorplan. It has room for kids, guests, remote work, outdoor cooking, and longer stays without feeling like every square foot is doing the same job.

The Bonus Room Is the Key to the Floorplan

The middle bedroom/den is the feature that separates the 355MBQS from a standard fifth-wheel or rear bunkhouse. This room includes a tri-fold sofa, desk/TV prep area, overhead storage, and access to the loft above. Families can use it as a kids’ room, guests can use it as a private sleeping area, and remote workers can turn it into a small office. On rainy days, it can also become a separate TV room or reading spot.

That separation is useful because it keeps the rear living area from becoming the only shared space in the RV. People can spread out without the floorplan feeling chopped up.

A Rear Living Area That Still Feels Like Home

At the back of the 355MBQS, everyone has a place to gather. The layout includes theater seating, a tri-fold sofa, and an entertainment center with a fireplace. The fireplace also includes a 5,000-BTU electric space heater, which can help warm the room when the RV is connected to shorepower. Because the bunk/den space sits in the middle of the coach, the lounge can stay focused on comfort. It remains a comfortable place to watch a movie, read, talk, or wind down after a travel day.

Jayco also includes blackout roller shades with reflective backing, residential vinyl flooring throughout, solid hardwood slide fascia, and no floor heat vents. Those choices make the interior easier to clean, easier to darken, and less likely to collect dirt around floor registers.

A Kitchen With Storage for Longer Trips

The kitchen gives the 355MBQS enough storage and prep space for more than weekend snacks. It includes an island, pantry, hutch, and 16-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator.

Jayco also equips the Eagle with solid-surface countertops throughout, a GE 30-inch over-the-range microwave with exhaust fan, a GE black-and-stainless 21-inch range with edge-to-edge grates, and a multi-function black stainless-steel kitchen sink. The faucet has a pull-out sprayer, and the drawers use full-extension drawer guides.

The dining area comes standard with a table-and-chairs/bench setup, giving the RV a place for meals, laptops, games, or trip planning. Layout options include a booth dinette, foldable dinette chairs, or a triple reclining sofa in place of the dinette.

A Private Bedroom and a Bath Everyone Can Reach

The front bedroom gives owners separation from the busier parts of the RV. It includes a king bed slideout, under-bed storage, a chest with TV prep, and washer/dryer prep in the walk-in closet.

The bedroom is CPAP-ready on both sides and includes a custom padded headboard with cellphone holders. Those details are important for people who use the bedroom every night, not just on weekend trips.

The full bath sits near the center of the floorplan, so it is easy to reach from the bedroom, mid-bunk room, and living area. Bathroom features include a 30-by-48-inch shower, skylight, high-gloss surround, residential-style glass shower door, porcelain foot-flush toilet, medicine cabinet with custom-framed mirror, and rain-proof bathroom power vent.

Construction and Weather Protection

The Eagle 355MBQS uses Jayco’s 5-inch Magnum Truss roof with plywood roof decking; Alpha Ply TPO roof membrane; Stronghold VBL laminated side walls, rear walls, and slideout walls; and 5/8-inch tongue-and-groove plywood flooring.

Jayco’s Climate Shield zero-degree tested weather protection package adds a fully enclosed and heated underbelly, 35,000-BTU furnace, double-layer fiberglass batt insulation in the ceiling and floor, double-sided radiant barrier insulation, and PEX plumbing. Jayco also offers an Extreme Weather Package with 120-watt heat pads and 12-volt heat tape on the freshwater line. That added protection is useful in cold conditions, but owners still need to manage propane, battery power, tank heat, water lines, and freezing-weather risk.

Cooling, Power, and Smart RV Features

The 355MBQS has 50-amp service with dual A/C ducts. Jayco’s HELIX Cooling System uses an insulated dual-duct design, directional and closeable A/C vents, larger return air vents, and user-accessible filters. The Comfort Plus Package adds a 15,000-BTU Whisper Quiet bedroom A/C.

Other comfort and technology features include the JAYCOMMAND Smart RV System with Pro Tablet, Bluetooth light switches, interior and exterior Blue Sync Audio Connect with MB Quart sound, a 4K Ultra LED HD smart TV in the living room, Winegard Air 360+ antenna and router prep with 5G support, inverter pre-wire, and USB-C 12-volt charging ports throughout the interior.

This 355MBQS includes the upgraded Overlander II Solar Package, which replaces the standard Overlander I setup. Instead of one 200-watt panel and a 30-amp solar controller, Overlander II adds two 200-watt panels, an MPPT 30-amp solar controller, and a 1,800-watt inverter. Those features can support more independent camping, but they are not a blank check for off-grid power use. Anyone planning to boondock should verify the battery setup, inverter configuration, generator prep, propane capacity, and expected power draw before buying.

Outdoor Living and Storage

Watch the Blue Compass RV walkthrough below for a quick look at the Jayco Eagle 355MBQS, including the exterior kitchen, entry, living area, and overall floorplan.

The 355MBQS includes two power awnings, outside storage, and an exterior kitchen. Additional highlights include LED exterior lighting, LED lighting in the pass-through area, metal slam-latch baggage doors, commercial-grade rubber flooring in the pass-through storage area, and larger exterior baggage doors.

Outdoor utility features include a JayPort 2-inch mount for outside accessories, an exterior light and outlet at the JayPort location, propane quick-connect for a gas griddle, quick-connect water connections, independent satellite and cable hookups, black-tank flush, and rear camera prep.

This 355MBQS includes the HALO 22-inch outside griddle with deep sink attachment for the JayPort system, a useful upgrade for campers who cook outside often.

The size of this fifth-wheel deserves a closer look before you book a campsite. The 355MBQS is 42 feet, 1 inch long and 14 feet wide with the slideouts open. Before booking older state park sites, wooded campgrounds, or tight private RV parks, check site length, slideout clearance, tree clearance, and approach angle.

Towing and Handling Features

The 355MBQS is not a half-ton-friendly fifth-wheel. Its size, pin weight, and GVWR put it in heavy-duty truck territory, so the important question is not just whether a truck can pull it, but whether it has the payload, axle rating, tire capacity, hitch rating, and braking capacity to handle the trailer when loaded for a real trip.

That matters because the published dry hitch weight does not include the weight owners add through cargo, water, propane, batteries, tools, food, dealer-installed equipment, and camping gear. A buyer looking at this floorplan should plan around loaded weight, not the lightest brochure number.

Jayco gives the 355MBQS several road-focused components. The mandatory 4 Star Handling Package includes Dexter axles with NEV-R-Adjust brakes and E-Z Lube hubs, 16-inch H-rated tires, MORryde CRE-3000 rubberized suspension, and wet bolt fasteners with bronze bushings. The Comfort Plus Package also includes TPMS monitoring. This unit is also listed with the optional Dexter ABS Brake System with anti-sway.

Height is part of the towing conversation, too. With a listed exterior height of more than 13 feet, the 355MBQS calls for real route awareness around low bridges, fuel stations, campground trees, and older park entrances.

Who the Jayco Eagle 355MBQS Fits Best

The Jayco Eagle 355MBQS is best suited for RVers who want a large fifth-wheel with separate living zones. Families can use the middle room and loft for kids. Couples can use the bonus room as an office, hobby space, or guest room. Grandparents traveling with visiting family get extra sleeping space without giving up a comfortable rear lounge.

For buyers who can use the space, the 2026 Jayco Eagle 355MBQS brings together a middle bedroom, loft, private front bedroom, rear living area, outdoor kitchen, and strong feature list in one large fifth-wheel. The all-American name suits the season, but the livability of the floorplan is what gives the 355MBQS its staying power.
