Both Porsche & Mercedes-AMG are set to unveil their latest iterations of track-focused sports cars. While Porsche will unveil the latest iteration of their GT2 RS, Mercedes-AMG will unveil the successor to its GT Black Series.
The latest iteration of Porsche’s most extreme road-going sports car, the GT2 RS, is scheduled to arrive later this year, with production to begin in 2026. Mercedes-AMG, on the other hand, will reveal the successor to its 2022 GT Black Series in September this year, previewed by the Concept AMG GT Track Sport.
According to reports, the upcoming Porsche 911 GT2 RS will feature an aerodynamic package more dramatic than even the current GT3 RS. This includes a DRS-style active rear wing and lower front diffuser. In terms of powertrain, the upcoming GT2 RS is expected to be based on the 3.6-litre flat-six hybrid engine. It could get two electronic turbochargers, and is expected to produce a total power output of over 750 BHP. Power will be sent exclusively to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Coming to Mercedes-AMG, the upcoming GT Black Series is said to be based on the current AMG GT launched in 2023. While Mercedes hasn’t revealed any details, it has confirmed an “expansion of the GT series” with a V8 engine. The carmaker even released teaser images, showcasing a massive GT3-inspired rear wing.
